On Saturday mornings I sit in the most magical women’s meeting via Zoom. This group of women gather from all over the world, and each are in their own stage of sobriety, but we all have one commonality. To stay sober one more day.
I’ve learned to have pen and paper nearby during these meetings. When I’d attend in-person rooms, a notebook would walk in with me because someone was going to say something I needed to remember. Sometimes you’ll hear a lot of things and feel like you’re writing continually during the meeting, but if you’re listening, you’ll always hear at least one thing that sparks your heart. The souls who show up are messengers and will be used to say something someone else needs to hear.
On this Saturday morning, it was F.A.I.T.H.
Several acronyms have stuck with me over the years thanks to what’s shared in these rooms. F.E.A.R is another good one that I tend to favor. It stands for False Evidence Appearing Real and as alcoholics we have a backpack bulging with false evidence appearing real from drinking, but when I heard this acronym for faith, I had to write it down to share with you.
F.A.I.T.H=Finding Answers In The Heart. Isn’t that beautiful?
There’s a misconception that AA is a religious origination, but I don’t see it that way. If you’ve never been to an AA meeting, let me encourage you to step into one and form your own opinion. Here’s the website containing the meeting schedule I’ve been using, but most meetings are co-ed and hosted every day at 5:30pm Mountain time. Saturday morning’s meeting is just for women and no matter your length of time without a drink, we all gather for the same reason.
To stay sober one more day.
