I’m still in love with the Golden Cup and noticed this morning you have to wait for the beep before pouring your first cup of coffee. There are some coffee makers designed to stop brewing when the carafe is removed, but this one doesn’t want it’s flow disrupted and let’s you know when it’s ready. I can relate to that.
As mentioned in my previous post, my daughter visited this week and while she was here, I mentioned that this house looks like a house of thoughts. She smiled and said, “Yes, there’s always something to read here”, and it’s true. No matter where you look, your eyes will fall onto words.
The first sign we bought upon moving in is hanging by the front door and says, “Benisse Cette Maison”, which is French for ‘Bless This House.’ Looking straight ahead after entering the home a sign reads, “dear life, it’s beautiful here.” Both of these statements have come to fruition. In the kitchen there’s a long wooden sign that takes up the length of the wall and in big, bold letters, painted in a soft green it spells, ‘HAPPINESS’. You cannot stand in the kitchen and be anything but happy. Atop the kitchen cabinet a sign reads, “find yourself and the rest will find you”, and that has been a work in progress for years.
There’s a reusable grocery bag hanging on a hook by the front door that says, ‘anything is possible’, along with a picture of a donkey with wings. To the right of me as I sit here and type a sign reads, ‘Live a good story’, and if I turned even more to the right this sign hangs in the window behind me that says, ‘The world needs who you were make to be”. This is half of the signs you’ll read at the very front of the house and doesn’t include all of the pieces of paper lying about with actual thoughts written on them. There’s a quote hanging on the fridge that reads, “I don’t know what’ll happen, or if anything will change, but I do know that we need to act, or things will stay the same. Today’s lesson reaffirmed? Ready. Fire. Aim.”
At every turn there’s a sign to read. We can meditate on all these words and put action behind them for our thoughts to align, otherwise we’re merely dwelling in a house of thoughts.
