A Gentle Nudge

The birds have found their bird bowl and are taking turns drinking water from it. The sun is streaming through the double windows of my writing room, but isn’t on the desk. I moved Rumi to the front of the house to give us both more space.

Sometimes, that’s all that’s needed is to move what’s taking up a lot of space. It could be physical, or mental, but causing a shift allows more room to breathe.

A colleague of mine spent years writing morning pages and he always completed all three pages. I’m assuming he still writes them, but haven’t asked recently to confirm. During our conversation about the pages he urged me to do all three, but I told him I couldn’t seem to get past one. Like most things in this stage of life, I needed a gentle nudge to go further, and felt that’s what he was giving me that day.

I encouraged myself to go from writing one page to two and by deciding to write two, it has opened up space. No longer do I look at the one page as something to complete, but instead, regard it as a lengthy start, knowing full well I’m going to flip it over to continue writing. There’s no need to push myself through this life anymore, but I remain open to continually giving myself a gentle nudge.

Tell me a decision and I’ll show you a direction.

About Me

Grab a warm cuppa and cozy up to inbarbsworld. I’m Barb, the writer behind this blog and I share through a clear, simple lens. I’ve lived a life filled with everything that money could buy, but in 2014 I left that life to feel myself living. Now, I know what abundance truly is and it can’t be bought.
