I purchased a candle that you’d normally buy in the fall/winter and have it lit nearby. I’m not rushing the season, but smelling it’s fall like scent certainly takes the edge off the outdoor temps climbing well into the 100’s by afternoon.
I head outside early each morning to water everything that’s planted in pots and this week I found my sweet spot to being outside. The front yard and porch are shaded in the mornings, so around 8:00 am there’s low humidity and a nice breeze flowing through the yard. Once the watering is complete, it’s nice to sit on the porch and take it all in. This yard is like watching a symphony of birds and butterflies. I was concerned the birds would leave since I no longer lay out birdseed, but they obviously stayed for the water!
I always water the foliage of the plant after watering the pot it’s planted in and here’s one of my favorite things at the moment. The female Cardinal’s fly onto the plant, drink the water laying on the leaves and then flutter all over the foliage to take a bath. Even though there’s a perfectly good bird bath hanging from a tree, they’d rather use the plants. It’s interesting to watch them fly from plant to plant almost like it’s their morning ritual if I do mine.
I must spend some time outside as if it’s a deeply rooted need, so any time between 8:00 am, and 10:30 am, is where I found the sweet spot.
