I thought about turning it off before slipping into bed, but left it on. The ceiling fan above the bed is still set for summer cooling, but I’m not sure summer is still here. This morning when my feet touched the floor, it felt cool and so did the temperature of the bedroom. The fan is off now.
It was the type temperature where a winter robe would be too much, but the lightweight writing robe wasn’t nearly enough. Grabbing the linen throw from the bed, I folded it in half, horizontally and draped it across my shoulders and felt like one of Jesus’ disciple’s draped in layers of linen gauze. Pretty sure I’m supposed to feel like that every day, but the fabric helps.
Leaving the bedroom, I walked by the thermostat revealing the indoor temperature of the house and it read, ’72 degrees’, but I was unaware the outdoor temp felt like the 40’s. Summer skipped town in the middle of the night, but when one season leaves it creates space for the next one to arrive. Stepping into the kitchen my lips formed a smile as I pressed the button for the Golden Cup to commence.
The welcome letter scheduled for my monthly newsletter had been successfully emailed out, but as I viewed it on my phone, I noted a couple of fonts that needed to be removed or made larger. I lost count of how many times I reviewed that letter before sending it but the end result looked different than the preview. I chose right then while standing in the kitchen to let it go because it was already done.
We learn by doing and what I think it should look like and what it actually looks like in the end never align. Loosen the reins…practice self-compassion…learn from it and move forward…better done than perfect.
