Back in Place

Sunday morning, my house felt messy, but I knew it would seem that way because of how I left it the night before. I used to spend the weekends cleaning, but no more. There’s 5 other days of the week to clean for the weekend to stay sacred.

I’m thinking about how everything has it’s place and if it doesn’t it needs our help finding it. I spent some time on Saturday rearranging items in my writing room and even repotted Rumi, our Asian Council tree, and let me tell you that was a mess.

I laid an old fitted sheet on the floor to catch the dirt and it went everywhere, but he looks happier for it. The pot he was in was too big, so the extra amount of dirt was holding too much moisture. He was producing new growth, but the new leaves were curling inward which you can see here and that’s a sign of stress.

I placed him in a smaller pot from the front yard that wasn’t being used, so for him to continue growing taller, it’s best to offer less space. His upper leaves are starting to relax and hopefully will flatten out, but I did my best for him and moved on. I moved lamps from one room to the other and even moved my radio from the middle of the house, into the writing room. It’s nice listening to music while writing.

As I walked through the house, thinking it looked messy, I viewed each item and knew where it belonged. The go bag sitting in the chair instead of on it’s hook, the empty tea cup and half full glass of water left on the coffee table all have a place. So, instead of mulling over a messy house, I’ll just help these little things get back in place.

PS my darlings. If you’d like to be on the list to receive a monthly letter in the mail, send me an email at Inbarbsworld@gmail.com with your mailing address. Nothing quite compares to holding the page in your hand while reading an actual letter.

Grab a warm cuppa and cozy up to inbarbsworld. I’m Barb, the writer behind this blog and I share through a clear, simple lens. I’ve lived a life filled with everything that money could buy, but in 2014 I left that life to feel myself living. Now, I know what abundance truly is and it can’t be bought.
