Rise and Shine

Over the weekend, I was in a meeting and a woman shared that she spends the first 3 hours of the day nurturing her soul. It didn’t phase me, but she received a lot of blank stares as if her comment was unfathomable. Over a year ago, I started doing the same thing and it’s one of the best decisions ever made.

My favorite part of the day is early morning. I just came inside from sitting on a wooden bench on the back porch and I’m not sure how long I was there, because I don’t keep an eye on the time. In the morning the porch is shaded and a nice breeze blows through the yard. The dogs and I were perfectly content watching all kinds of winged nature swooping in as if using the space as their playground until a bee got too close to Winnie and she was done enjoying nature.

You may not have hours to spend on doing nothing but watching the day come to life, but your season will come. In the meantime, here’s a minute of happiness because when we’re given the gift to rise, I’m sure we’re called to shine.

  1. Cute commercial, Barb. I nurture my soul at night before I fall asleep or at random moments during the day when I encounter moments of magic in nature. I would like to sit and nurture my soul in the early morning hours, but Molly is that annoying friend who bounces out of bed wide awake and ready to live life large. 🤷

    1. Thanks Anne and I thought it was so adorable. It came on during a movie I was watching and I found myself mesmerized by it. I’m glad you find moments to nurture yourself and the time of day doesn’t matter nearly as much as taking that time. Molly still has a lot of puppy in her, so that’s understandable, but these dogs are older and pretty, darn chill. I’m grateful. 🧡

    1. Aw…Thanks, Dwight! Lastnight, during a movie, this commercial came on. I just sat there and watched it and it still makes me smile. 😂💞

  4. That little mushroom is so sweet!!!

I know you’ve been talking about Ryze for a while. I am now seeing so many ads for it and its (alleged) benefits, that I’m leaning towards trying some. Can you say you truly feel better for taking it? And how much a day do you drink, if you don’t mind my asking? (Go ahead, be a Ryze rep. 😍)

    1. Isn’t it the cutest!? I love the look on his face when he’s on the handlebars of the rower. 😂 I started with MudWtr, which is the original mushroom coffee and it has a heavier and richer taste than Ryze, but now I fluctuate between the two. If you want to ‘try’ one, I’d start with Ryze. It’s lighter and fluffier than MudWtr. Both offer a feel good way to start the day and I just drink one cup in the morning, but you can drink it throughout the day, just like coffee but with no jitters. 🙏🏻

  5. Okay, thanks. I’m almost there … maybe start the day with a Ryze, then back to decaf during the day, what I usually have. Hmmm ….. :-)

    1. You are welcome and just so you’re aware…Ryze doesn’t taste anything like coffee. It has an earthy taste, so the cup of decaf will still come into play. 🧡

Love this! That gift implies a kind of responsibility maybe? One could say your blog is one way that you fulfill it.

    1. I like your use of the word ‘responsibility’ and it aligns with being called. I favor the quote, “Someone, somewhere, is depending on you to do what God has called you to do.”, so yes, by using the gift of writing, you are reading this blog and it’s beautiful how they all intertwine. Thank you for commenting.

  7. I certainly would have nodded my head in agreement with her and smiled for her doing that. The others who gave blanks stares want to try it. They will learn something about themselves. 😊
