The Age of Endless Possibilities

I have a tendency to go, ‘all-in’, on whatever I choose to do, but thankfully, with age, I’m reminded there are steps. Learning something new in reverse is where I find myself with watercolors, but I had to relax and soften my ‘can do’ attitude.

I got reeled in on Instagram by a watercolor book with the drawings already sketched out. All we have to do is fill it in with color. That sounds easy, so I placed an order, but buying the workbook wasn’t really my starting point. The very first step was being willing to be a beginner and learn from others who have been where I am and are farther along the path than me. I love learning from other people’s mistakes.

Some wake up in the second half of life in fear that it’s too late to learn or try something new. Can I say that’s BS? As long as we’re gifted a new day and have ample breath in our bodies…the possibilities are endless.

I’ve been applying water and color to the paper and am happy that I purchased good quality paper because that is everything! Looking back on it now, I didn’t need the workbook and am nowhere near ready for it. All I needed, was good paper, a couple of brushes, water and a cake pallet of primary colors to begin.

YouTube has been very helpful as I watch videos with titles such as, “5 things I wish I knew before I began.” Learning what the water and color do on the paper is a lifelong journey and in the beginning phases I’m making more of a mess than art, but I can already see why people fall in love with this process.

Age doesn’t matter, but our willingness does. What is something you’ve always wanted to do, but haven’t taken time to learn? At this stage of life, time becomes more valuable because there’s less of it in front of us. Let your heart roam free and listen for what it wants. Sitting here in the soft, morning light…the possibilities are endless.

I’ve lived a life filled with everything that money could buy, but in 2014 I left that life to feel myself living. Now, I know what abundance truly is and it can’t be bought.
