Oh My Gosh

I stopped ordering from Amazon more than year ago. The quality of their product had dropped way below the bar and being an alcoholic in sobriety, I didn’t need help feeding that sleeping beast of ‘I want it now.’

I find what I want locally, or online. My daughter has taught me what to look for to determine if the website is legitimate. If what I wish to buy is more of an investment than purchase, I’ll send her the link and let her 23-year-old mind pick it apart. My daughter had not heard of YaYa, so I’m thrilled they’re a real company, but upon receiving my order I wasn’t expecting such an experience.

I’ve been looking for a linen throw. If you live in a hot climate, but still want the comfort of a throw in the evening, linen is the way to go. It arrived in a cardboard box and I fully expected the linen throw to be shrink wrapped in plastic, or balled up in the box, but the box was big. If you have an old hat box in your closet, you’ll understand my excitement after removing the cardboard box.

Carefully slicing the tape and peeling back the cardboard flaps I gasped and proclaimed, “Oh my gosh!” Then, grabbed my phone to share this with you.

As if that wasn’t enough, it gets better.

I tugged at the ribbon and raised the lid to find the throw wrapped in tissue, but tucked inside the fold were two sprigs of fresh lavender along with a note of thanks. There was also a lavender sachet tucked inside the throw, and I couldn’t stop saying, “Oh my gosh!”, at every step.

This was not an outrageous purchase. The throw was on sale, and they emailed a coupon, so I paid less than $50, plus shipping. I spend that much on coffee and to unexpectedly receive this purchase wrapped as a gift is an experience I won’t soon forget. Plus, this throw will last for many years.

Experiences like these awaken our very soul to ignite and proclaim, “Oh my gosh!”

  1. Oh yes. I would have been the same with my own equivalent of ‘oh wow.’ That was rather a special package when opened because of the way it was packed. That would be like my birthday all over again equivalent because how someone wrapped it.
