The Right Way

In a world of automation, I love making the Golden Cup and am so pleased that I bought a coffee maker to enjoy during these cooler months. This morning it’s 47°F here in Texas, (WooHoo!), and here’s a few things I’ve noticed that it doesn’t do, compared to regular coffee makers.

It Doesn’t Have a Timer

You cannot set it up to automatically start the next morning. Now, I do pour the water and grinds in before going to bed and that’s become a lovely nighttime ritual of sorts, but it waits for you to walk by and press the button. Even the buttons are unlike anything I’ve seen compared to a regular one.

It Shuts Itself Off

Even though there is no timer, it knows when to shut itself off. I haven’t timed how long it stays on to keep the coffee warm, but the website says about an hour. It stays at the perfect setting of heat to keep your coffee hot, but anything more than an hour, the coffee begins to over heat and will taste bitter.

It Knows It’s Job

After making your coffee you can leave the house and not worry about it because it will shut itself off, or it’s supposed to anyway. I’m enjoying Jacked “O’Lantern fall flavored coffee by Bones coffee. They have a fun assortment of fall blends here and I’m not one who drinks a lot of flavored coffee, but you can still taste the quality of the beans, plus the bag is beautiful!

It Keeps it Together

The basket of grinds sits inside the carafe, so you’ll need to remove the basket to make pouring easier. It came with it’s own basket holder, which also makes it easier to prepare. It’s like Delonghi thought of everything we don’t need and offered up simplicity in a coffee maker. It’s refreshing to have such a simple appliance that’s it’s sole purpose is to help you start your day, the right way.

In this audio you will hear the doggos tap dancing in the background. They get excited when they hear talking, but I decided not to wait until they were quiet to record. 😄

  2. Somewhere I hear a Chemex pot crying ….. haha. I am so devoted to my simple Chemex that while yours does sound great, I will always be so old school. :-)

    1. Hah…The Chemex is collecting dust, but will still be used. I just love pushing the shiny button for now. 😄
