I’ve noticed since living solo that I wasn’t laughing nearly as often as I used to. I have a boisterous laugh which has embarrassed my daughter her entire life. Now that she’s an adult, she will laugh simply by hearing it.
I met her for brunch and she excused herself to go to the bathroom. The waiter came by and started to chat, but it didn’t take long before we started laughing. My daughter came back with a smile on her face, leaned over the table and said, “I could hear you laughing all the way in the bathroom!”, which is at the far end of the restaurant.
It’s disruptive and I’ve had acquaintances find me in a crowded room when they hear it, so I don’t want to lose my laugh. Not only is it fun for me, but it seems to bring joy to others, except babies…they cry when they hear it. If we don’t use what we have, it will eventually fade away, so I started watching this comedian, Nate Bargatze. He’s promoted as ‘clean’ comedy and he delivers. There’s no foul language, or sexual innuendos. What a concept!
He has three specials on Netflix, or you can watch shorter clips on any social media platform, but when I need a little laughter pick me up, I’ll watch him on Facebook here. I hope you enjoy this brief performance by Nate, because when we’re doing our best to remember what day it is…it’s good for the soul to remember to laugh.
