The Little Guy

Since posting about letting my hair grow, Dwight, over at Faded Jeans Living and I have been sending each other Marco Polos each week. It’s fun as we encourage one another and we laugh together over our own missteps, or at each other! Recently, he was picking on me for calling my new Internet modem, ‘the little guy’, but since that Marco Polo, I’ve brough another little guy into Barb’s World.

During one of my visits with Dr. Jason, I told him now that my gut is functioning properly, I wake up ravenous, but I’ve never been a breakfast eater. He suggested making a smoothie, but I didn’t have a blender and really don’t like them. They’re too loud, hard to clean and take up too much counter space, for me anyway, but as we parted ways, he said, “Buy a refurbished Vitamix, Barbara.”

As you may recall, I have a semi-healthy obsession with Best Buy and scrolled through their website in search of options. One search lead to another until I came upon mini food processors. I’ve been wanting to make hummus and pesto, but this little guy had remarkable reviews about smoothies for one! The KitchenAid mini qualifies in my mind as a little guy, but it’s true what they say about small, but powerful because it gets the job done! Plus, I think it’s prettier than a Vitamix blender.

It took me a minute to get used to the color, because it was more greenish on the website, and I thought seriously about swapping it for a different color, like something more neutral, but it eventually fit in. Probably because there’s no color scheme in my home, but every little misfit settles into it’s place with some time.

This is a mixture of kale, banana, frozen blueberries, so there’s no need for ice, honey, oat milk and a couple of spoonful’s of plain yogurt. As we learned when making the London Fog, it’s polite to listen to people’s advice/suggestions, but we humans have an innate need to find our own way. Dr. J planted the seed for morning smoothies to curb my hunger and that stuck with me. My part was to find the proper little guy.

    1. Thank you, Janie. Yes, that color seems to always catch my attention. I have a kitchen tool caddy the same color, so I’m getting used to seeing it. I’m making hummus this weekend!💖
