I write to bring peace and calm to the weary soul, if only for a couple of minutes. I’ve been thinking a lot in general about peace and joy. My therapist is helping me uncover joy and she asked, “What sparks your joy?” You see, joy dwells in the heart, so I had to really think about her question to pinpoint an answer. “Writing, sparks my joy”, I replied. That answer was one of several, but it topped the list. Then we discussed how to share that gift to bring joy to others.
What sparked joy the most was earlier this year when I mailed a monthly letter to friends and readers of this blog. Mid-year I saw an email platform that was pretty and decided to turn the paper letter into a monthly online newsletter. The spark extinguished using this method, but I persevered. It didn’t take long to know I was off purpose, so I canceled the online service and in November, I went back to writing monthly letters to offer something tangible to keep.
Good Morning, Barb and I hope this finds you having a lovely morning! I received your beautiful letter and I am always excited to get one from you! I wait to read it when I won’t be interrupted and have a cuppa tea to enjoy. Love you, sweet friend! Thank you for sending me your letter.
That’s part of a text from a friend who received November’s letter and it filled my heart with joy, which confirms a joy shared is a joy made double. If you’d like to receive a letter in the mail once a month, send me an email at Inbarbsworld@gmail.com with your mailing address. Nothing quite compares to holding the page in your hand while reading an actual letter.
